Once the text "STAGE 2" has appeared at the top of the screen, and Amul has started moving forward again, ten Shellfish will emerge from the water (you can see their silhouettes beneath the surface of it) and fly towards Amul; once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, twelve Graia will come flying towards you, from the right and left sides of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, twelve more Graia will come flying towards you from the left and right sides of the screen - and once you've shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, twelve more Graia will come flying towards you, from the right and left sides of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them, to kill them, the introductory theme that you were hearing from the Yamaha YM-2151 (for a second time if you are playing the old version of the game or for the first and only time if you're playing the new version of the game) will fade out and the stage's main theme will then start to be heard from it instead.

You will then come to six Insect Love Earths, that are firing projectiles at you from their positions in the centre of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on each of them to kill them, you will come to three more Insect Love Earths that are firing projectiles at you from their positions on the right side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on each of these to kill them, two Koptera will come flying towards you from the left side of the screen -  and once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of these to kill them, four more Koptera will come flying towards you, from that right side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of these to kill them, a seventh Koptera will come flying towards you, from the left side of the screen; once you've shot a Level-2 flame at it to kill it, five more Koptera will come flying towards you from the right side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, two more Koptera (both of which are flashing) will come flying towards you from the left side of the screen - and once you've shot a Level-2 flame at both of them to kill them, they will send two randomly-generated powerups flying towards Amul. Once you have collected them, they will take their effects on Amul; three more Koptera (all three of whom are flashing) will then come flying towards you from the right side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, they will send three more randomly-generated powerups flying towards Amul - and once you have collected them, they will take their effect on Amul. You will then come to a Red Egg upon the right side of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on it, to destroy it, a red orb with the Star of David will come flying out of it towards Amul. Once you have collected it, the second of the three "FIRE" rectangles in the bottom-right corner of the screen will again be filled as five Tumblers come flying towards you from the top of the screen - and once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, they will explode into four fireballs (which must be avoided) as you come to a Blue Egg upon the left side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on it to destroy it a blue orb with the Barbados trident on it will emerge from it and come flying towards Amul; once you have collected it Amul will grow a third (and final) head on the right side of his second one. Twenty more Tumblers will then come flying towards you from the top of the screen - and once you have shot a Level-2 flame at each of them to kill them, they will explode into four fireballs (which must again be avoided). You will then come to another Red Egg upon right side of the screen; once you've dropped a bomb on it to destroy it, a second red orb with the Star of David on it will come flying out of it towards Amul. Once you have collected this, the last of the three "FIRE" rectangles in the bottom-right corner of the screen will again be filled (as Amul is upgraded onto Level-3 flames) - and ten more Tumblers will then come flying towards you from the top of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, they will explode into four fireballs (which must once again be avoided); a group of seven Sparklers will then come flying towards you from the left side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, another group of seven more Sparklers will come flying towards you from the right side of the screen - and once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them a third group of seven more Sparklers will come flying towards you from the left side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, a fourth group of seven more Sparklers will come flying towards you, from the right side of the screen - and once you've shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, two more groups of seven more Sparklers will come flying towards you from the left and right sides of the screen (the last of whom is flashing). Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, the last one will send a sixth randomly-generated powerup flying towards Amul; once you have collected it, it will once again take its effects on Amul. You will then come to an erupting volcano upon the right side of the screen, which has four Phoenixes emerging from it - and once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, you will come to another erupting volcano in the centre of the screen which has four more Phoenixes emerging from it. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, you will come to two Tyrannosauruses, who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions upon the right side of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on both of them, to kill them, you'll come to a third Red Egg on the left side of the screen. Once you've dropped a bomb on it to destroy it, a third red orb with the Star of David on it will come flying out of it towards Amul - and once you've collected it for the extra points, the first of the three "FIRE" rectangles in the bottom-right corner of the screen will once again be filled. You will then come up to two more Tyrannosauruses, who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions on that left side of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on both of them to kill them, you'll come to two more erupting volcanoes in the centre of the screen (which have eight more Phoenixes emerging from them). Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of these to kill them, you'll come to a fifth Tyrannosaurus, who is spitting projectiles at you from his position upon the right side of the screen - and once you have dropped a bomb on him to kill him, you will come to a second Blue Egg upon the left side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on it to destroy it, second blue orb with the Barbados trident on it will come flying out of it towards Amul; once you have collected it for the extra points, you will come to a sixth Tyrannosaurus who is spitting projectiles at you from his position upon the left side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on him to kill him, you'll come to a fifth erupting volcano on the right side of the screen, which has four more Phoenixes emerging from it - and once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, you will come up to two more Tyrannosauruses who are spitting projectiles at you, from their positions on the right side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on both of them to kill them, you will come up to a fourth Red Egg on the right side of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on this to destroy it, a fourth red orb with the Star of David on it will come flying out of it towards Amul. Once you have collected it for the extra points, the second of those three "FIRE" rectangles in the bottom-right corner of the screen will again be filled as you come to two more Tyrannosauruses who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions on the left side of the screen - and once you have dropped a bomb on both of them to kill them, you will come to two more erupting volcanoes on the left and right sides of the screen which have eight more Phoenixes emerging from them. Once you have shot Level-3 flame at each of these ones, to kill them, you will come to two more Tyrannosauruses who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions on the right and left sides of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on both of them to kill them, you will come to three more Tyrannosauruses who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions upon the left side of the screen. Once you have dropped a bomb on each of them to kill them, a Bio Cycler will come flying towards you from the top of the screen, while shooting flames at you - and once you have shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him to kill him (he uses the five small molten rocks that are orbiting around him in an anticlockwise direction as a shield), a second Bio Cycler will come flying towards you from the top of the screen, while shooting flames at you. Once you have shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him, to kill him, a seventh group of seven more Sparklers will come flying towards you from the right side of the screen; once you have shot off a Level-3 flame at each of these to kill them, a fiftieth Sparkler (who is flashing) will come flying towards you from the left side of the screen. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at him, to kill him, he will send a seventh randomly-generated powerup flying towards Amul - and once you have collected it, it will yet again take its effects on Amul. You'll then come to an eighth erupting volcano in the centre of the screen, which has four more Phoenixes emerging from it; once you have shot off Level-3 flame at each of these to kill them, a third Bio Cycler will come flying towards you from the top of the screen while shooting flames at you. Once you have shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him, to kill him, you will come to two more erupting volcanoes in the centre of the screen, that have eight more Phoenixes emerging from them. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of these to kill them, you will come to three more Tyrannosauruses, who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions on that left side of the screen; once you have dropped a bomb on each of them to kill them, you will come to two more erupting volcanoes in the centre of the screen which have eight more Phoenixes emerging from them. Once you have shot Level-3 flame at each of them to kill them, you will come to two more Tyrannosauruses, who are spitting projectiles at you from their positions on the right side of the screen - and once you have dropped a bomb on both of these, to kill them, you will come to a thirteenth erupting volcano on the right side of the screen, which has four more Phoenixes emerging from it. Once you have shot Level-3 flame at each of these to kill them, a fourth Bio Cycler will come flying towards you from the top of the screen while shooting flames at you; once you've shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him to kill him you will come up to a fourteenth erupting volcano in the centre of the screen which has four more Phoenixes emerging from it. Once you have shot a Level-3 flame at each of these ones, to kill them, a fifth Bio Cycler will come flying towards you from the top of the screen while shooting flames at you - and once you have shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him to kill him, a sixth Bio Cycler (who is flashing), will come flying towards you from the top of the screen, while shooting flames at you; once you've shot one of your own Level-3 flames at him to kill him, he will send an eighth randomly-generated powerup flying towards Amul. Once you have collected this, it will, for a fifth time take its effect on Amul - and the main theme that you had been hearing from the Yamaha YM-2151 will then fade out, as Amul stops moving forward for the second time.
The second stage starts out very much like the first one ended.  Waves of Shellfish will swim underwater from the bottom of the screen to the top, and pop out of the water to attack you. Once you reach the land, the Shellfish will stop, and Graias will take over. They'll fly at you from both side of the screen until you get far enough inland, and you will see some of the projectile firing plants known as "Insect Love Earth."  Weave in and out of the projectiles they fire and bomb them to destroy them.

Several groups of Koptera will begin flying towards you from either side of the screen.  When you get to a final group of five Koptera, they will all be shining.  While the power-ups they leave behind are usually random, most of the Kopteras will only provide you with the bonus point Dia orb. Only one Koptera will actually provide you with a true power-up orb.

Shortly after the Kopteras, you will see a red egg on the right which you can bomb for a fire power-up. At this point, giant fireballs known as Tumblers fill the sky and rain down toward you.  Tumblers must be shot with great care.  When they are struck, they break apart into four smaller pieces which fly off in each diagonal direction.  These smaller pieces can be destroyed, and they're not usually a threat unless you're moving around a lot when you shoot the Tumblers.

The Tumblers will continue as you reach a cliff.  Just before the cliff wall is a blue egg on the left. Unless you managed to obtain a blue power-up randomly from a flashing enemy, this is your first opportunity to grow a third head. While the added firepower is nice, remember that you will become a bigger target for enemies to hit.  Once you are flying over the cliff, you will notice another red egg on the right.  This may also be your first chance to obtain the third level of fire power. While this power is particularly useful against bosses, some players will find it more difficult to destroy waves of smaller enemies because it has a slower rate of fire.  Many expert players will actually choose to stick with Level 2 fire power for this reason.

The Tumblers stop when you can finally see a river of lava dripping down the side of one of the volcanoes on the right. Groups of small firebirds known as Sparklers will begin to appear.  They alternate between the left and right sides of the screen, always entering from the side, and sloping up to the top of the screen. They're easy targets to deal with.  When the final group appears on the left (very quickly after a group on the right) a final single flashing Sparkler will appear from the right. Shoot it to obtain a random power-up orb.

Now the volcanoes that you encounter will be erupting. Whenever a volcano erupts (assuming it's still near the top half of the screen) it will emit a large firebird known as a Phoenix.  Phoenixes rise into the air and then rush towards you. One will appear from each erupting volcano, so you may need to move around to avoid them all, or get beneath them to shoot them.  As you fly over the river of lava, you will also notice Tyrannosauruses on the ground which you'll need to bomb to destroy

Around the Tyrannos is a lone red egg, as well as two blue eggs on either side of the screen just before the next river of lava. Beyond this river of lava is another red egg.  Throughout this portion, Phoenixes and Tyrannos will continue to appear.  Around the time that you reach the next river of lava, a new enemy known as the Bio Cycler will appear.  This flying creature can summon five rocks to rotate around itself to serve as a shield.  They aren't too hard to destroy, but they can release a single indestructible thread of lava will snake its way down the center of the screen.  It is impossible to destroy, so your only choice is to avoid it.  A second Bio Cycler will follow the first.

After the Bio Cyclers have appear, another flock of Sparklers appears from the right, while a single flashing Sparkler will appear from the left. Shoot it to collect another random power-up. It's not uncommon for this power-up to be the Wide Fire orb which changes your normal breath weapon to a spread shot.  After you collect it, more Phoenixes will appear from erupting volcanoes and another Bio Cycler will arrive.

For the remainder of the stage, you will encounter more Phoenixes, and another Bio Cycler will appear just before you encounter a heard of Tyrannosauruses on the ground.  Phoenixes will continue to appear throughout this portion of the stage. When you reach the last river of lava, the first of three final Bio Cyclers will appear, with the other two appearing at intervals until you reach the boss of the stage.  The third and final Bio Cycler will be flashing and provide you with a random power-up if you destroy it.

== Boss: Round Phoenix ==
The Round Phoenix is a gigantic Phoenix that flies down from the top of the screen.  It is surrounded by eight rocks which circle around its body.  Four smaller rocks fly counter-clockwise close to its body, while four larger rocks fly clockwise further away from its body. Aside from these rocks and colliding with you, the Round Phoenix has no other form of attack.  It's easy enough to slip inside the space between the large rocks and the small rocks, but you'll have to be careful when shooting the Round Phoenix on its way down to the bottom of the screen.  It does not stop until it gets very close to the bottom, before it starts to climb back up to the top of the screen.  Be sure to move out of its way and wait for it to rise and create a safe place for you to fly underneath of it and shoot at it.  It has no particular weakpoint; you can damage it by shooting it anywhere on its body.  It takes 8 Level-3 shots, 12 Level-2 shots, or 24 Level-1 shots to destroy it.

The game's second boss theme will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 as Round Phoenix flies into view from the top of the screen; he is orbited by eight molten rocks (the larger four are orbiting in a clockwise direction and the smaller four are orbiting in an anticlockwise direction); he does not fire at Amul, but the eight aforementioned molten rocks can severely limit his mobility (especially if he is in his two or three-headed forms). Once you have fired a total of eight Level-3 flames (or twelve Level-2 flames if Amul was unlucky enough to take a hit after collecting that first red orb of the stage, or twenty-four Level-1 flames if Amul was unlucky enough to take two hits after collecting that first red orb of the stage), at Round Phoenix to defeat him, he will explode and the game will segue into the third stage. That stage will also introduce the first 'indestructible' enemy of the game - the Rope Woods.

As you fly over the river of lava, you will also notice Tyrannosauruses on the ground which you'll need to bomb to destroy.
