Phantom Brave is a tactical RPG for the PlayStation 2 console, developed by Nippon Ichi Software. It was the first title published by the company's American branch, NIS America. The game was ported to the Wii in 2009 as Phantom Brave: We Meet Again featuring new episodes and playable characters.
Fans of Disgaea will see some similarities between the titles, though there are notable changes in the battle system and the story has no relation to that of NIS' main franchise. The grid movement system is gone in favor of a system based on free movement throughout the field (limited by the character's movement rate). Characters are "confined" to objects in the field (including items dropped by other characters and enemies) rather than spawned from a particular point on the map.
