Zenny items

Collect various fruits throughout the game to increase the amount of Zenny that you have to spend in the stores. Watch out for skulls which actually remove Zenny from your wallet.

Other items which appear from pots or defeated enemies have a variety of effects which occur the moment you collect them.

Yashichi	POW
The Yashichi is a special item which, upon collection, extends SonSon's health meter by four bars, and restores four units of health.	Upon touching a POW item, all enemies present on the screen are instantly destroyed. Try to grab one when many enemies surround you.

Stored items

Some items, including many that you purchase from a shop, can be stored away for later use when the opportunity arises.

Key	POW
The key opens the door to the boss's lair. You must locate the key in every stage before you can challenge the boss.	Ordinarily, the game does not allow you to continue after SonSon dies. However, if you purchase a lamp, you will be offered the chance to start over from the beginning of the stage you died on.
Cloud	Gourd
When you reach a boss, you usually have to fight them on foot. However, if you manage to locate and collect a cloud, you will be able to float off the ground and freely attack from any location. Each cloud is only good for one boss battle.	If you are in possession of a gourd when your health is depleted, the gourd will automatically restore half of your missing health points.
Fist	Meat Bun
Some items are hidden inside walls, or parts of the wall can be removed to create new paths. But SonSon is only able to break bricks if he possesses a fist. Fists can destroy 5 walls. After destroying 4 walls, they turn green to indicate that they can only be used once more.	Sagojo is hiding in a particular location in Stage 3. If you find him, he will offer to sell you a meat bun. Purchase it to give to Cho Hakkai in Stage 4.
Cucumber	Magic clothes
If you manage to discover where Cho Hakkai is hiding in Stage 4, and you purchased the meat bun from Sagojo, you will give it to him here, and he will trade it for a cucumber.	If you locate Sanzo Hoshi in Stage 7, and you happen to have a cucumber in your possession, you can trade it for a set of magic clothes which increase SonSon's defensive ability.

Spells

Icon	Name	MP	Description
	Peach	1	SonSon will lob a peach which bounces around the terrain and damages any enemy it comes in contact with.
	Shield	1 per damage	Three orbs will rotate around SonSon and absorb any damage that gets inflicted on him. It uses one magic point per unit of health protected, and eats up your magic supply quickly.
	Bomb	4	SonSon tosses out a bomb, and a jet of flame rises out of the ground where the bomb lands.
	Time Stop	10	When activated, everything on the screen remains frozen in place for a few seconds.
	Thunder	8	Thunder destroys every enemy present on the screen when used, just as if SonSon had touched a POW item.

Staffs

Staff	Location
Level 1	You begin the game with it.
Level 2	Purchase from Cho Hakkai in Stage 2 for 2000 Zenny.
Level 3	Purchase from a shop keeper in either Stage 3 or Stage 4 for 3000 Zenny.
Level 4	Hidden inside a wall in the final section of Stage 4.
Level 5	Purchase from a shop keeper in Stage 5 for 5000 Zenny, or in Stage 6 for 7000 Zenny.
Level 6	Hidden inside a wall in the middle of Stage 7.
