This guide is for the 1985 Firebird Software game. For the 1988 Grandslam Entertainment game, the 1989 Activision game, the 2000 SCi game and the 2007 Blast! Entertainment game, see Thunderbirds (1988), Thunderbirds (NES), Thunderbirds (2000) and Thunderbirds (2007).

Thunderbirds is an action game, that was released by Firebird Software on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 in 1985; it is based on the Anderson-Provis Films, Associated Television and ITC Entertainment Group television series of the same name that originally aired on the ITV Network from 1964 to 1966 but was later moved to BBC Television after ATV lost their franchise at the end of 1981.

Story[edit | edit source]

This is from the back of the cassette's inlay card, the front of which is shown in the image to the right:

A team of Egyptologists are
trapped in the ancient tomb of
Tootnmoughtin. Heavy stone
blocks and a highly complex maze
bar their exit. Running out of air
they transmit one final message.
Somewhere in Earth's orbit
Thunderbird Five records their
desperate S.O.S. - suddenly,
THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!

In 2005, this game was remade for the Microsoft Windows operating system by R.I.C. Games, under the name Thunderbirds: The Hypertrap; the backgrounds have been enhanced to make them look more like the inside of a pyramid, and it uses images of the two Thunderbird ships from the show for their sprites. However, as with the remakes for Creative Sparks's Danger Mouse in the Black Forest Chateau and Piranha's The Trap Door, the gameplay's exactly the same as that of the initial version.
